Storm Passes South Today Dry Cold Into Midweek Warmer Late Week
The third and final storm in this active weather pattern is developing off the Carolina coast this morning but unlike the last two, this one is headed east rather than north. This has put us on the edge of some high clouds to the south and east. To the west and northwest we have some clouds as well thanks to a couple of more upper air disturbances that will be rotating through the next 2 days. In between we see sunshine mixed with some clouds. It ill be a cold day however with a gusty wind and highs just in the upper 30s to some lower 40s.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Rain from the southern system with some snow on the northwest fringe is showing up in Southeast Virginia and Eastern North Carolina. Local radars however are too far north to pick up on this precipitation as it slides out to the east.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
There are a few more upper air disturbances that will be rotating into the East before the pattern we have been in breaks down somewhat and temperatures moderate late in the week. These disturbances are weak so other than clouds I don’t expect much to happen.
Skies should at least partially clear tonight and it will be a cold night with lows in the mid to upper 20s in most places. Tuesday we will see sun and clouds with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Perhaps Wednesday will be more sun and fewer clouds once the last disturbance passes through. Highs Wednesday should reach the low to middle 40s.
You can gather from the GFS that not much happens through the rest of the work week. Thursday and Friday we will see sunshine on both days with highs reaching the upper 40s and lower 50s. and we could see low to mid 50s on Friday. Then weather conditions deteriorate for the weekend. Low pressure heads from the Plains to the Great Lakes and that brings clouds and showers Saturday into early Sunday. Timing now on this cold front suggests we could see improvement later Sunday as a another in and out shot of cold arrives for early next week. No major storms of rain or snow are in the cards for the next 10 days.
