Storm Exits Windy Overnight Some Sunshine Cold Sunday Dry Week Ahead

Saturday’s storm continues to intensify off the coast southeast of Cape Cod. We saw rain change over to snow from Central and Eastern Connecticut northward. The storm center is clearly obvious on the satellite picture below with the clouds wrapped around like a giant comma. Temperatures have been in the 30s to near 40 all day long and we are now headed into a night where skies should partially clear. Temperatures by morning will bottom in the upper 20s to middle 30s.

Radars show the activity is winding down slowly in Southeastern New England. The Fort Dix radar below shows all the precipitation is to the east and out of range while we can see the diminishing echos on the Upton radar. After this is all done radars will get a week’s vacation as the week ahead looks to be dry.

Sunday will certainly be a much better day with sunshine and some clouds but there will be a gusty breeze and temperatures will likely go no where with highs just in the upper 30s to lower 40s.

The week ahead will be dry but we still have some work to do with the upper atmosphere. Upper troughs are forecast to move through Monday and Tuesday and each will likely produce clouds as they go. That means limited sunshine and temperatures will likely struggle by day and will be chilly both day and night. Highs by day Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s and nights will be in the mid 20s to lower 30s.

Other than maybe a small chance for a sprinkle or snow shower no important precipitation is forecast all week thanks to a dry northwest flow. Wednesday should see more sun than clouds with highs into the 40s. Thursday and Friday will be dry with some sunshine and temperatures will moderate to the upper 40s and lower 50s.
