Some Rain Overnight Thanksgiving Day Dry Weekend Rain Monday

The atmosphere is prepping for some rain and we are seeing clouds rolling in today. Temperatures overnight didn’t fall much except for a few inland places. I’m not expecting much to happen today into this evening with lots of clouds. Highs today will be mostly in the 50s. The satellite shows clouds extending back to the west as low pressure moves across the Midwest. Radar shows some snow well north in upstate NY during this morning but not much else.

We will get into some rain later tonight and lasting into at least Thanksgiving Day afternoon. It seems the rain might get enhanced a bit east of NYC across Southern New England and Long Island where up to an inch of rain is possible. Otherwise most places from Eastern Pennsylvania to New Jersey could see up to a half an inch.

Rain ends from west to east Thursday afternoon with temperatures reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. There isn’t alot of cold air behind this low so we will see improving weather Thursday night. Friday should feature some sunshine. Highs will be in the 50s to near 60. A weak cold front passes Friday night setting us up for a cooler weekend. We are thinking we will see sunshine for both Saturday and Sunday with highs both days in the low to mid 50s.

Next week brings an end to November and the beginning of December. It also looks like we are going into a stormier weather pattern overall though the amount of cold air is somewhat limited. Monday will see a gulf low head for the Eastern Great Lakes with a strong upper trough swinging east. Look for a windswept soaking rain arriving Monday and lasting into Tuesday. We could see a couple of inches of rain from this system and energy will continue to wrap around the trough in the east created unsettled weather conditions all week long. We will address this over the holiday weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
