SNOWFALL FORECAST NO CHANGES

After looking at all the model data this evening I’m making no changes in my forecasts. The RGEM and NAM models jogged to the right though both models did produce some snow for coastal areas with less inland. The SREF model series was still bullish. The primary storm is going to go offshore and pass well to the east. As stated in my earlier post that was never and issue. It is a matter of how far west could the precipitation shield make. I think there is still some uncertainty so I am leaving my forecast alone for late Sunday night through Monday night. I am forecasting up to a few inches along the coast with lesser amounts inland.

SNOWFALL FORECAST NO CHANGES

joessnow02062016 SNOWFALL FORECAST NO CHANGES

In terms of the weather for Sunday we are looking at sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. Temperatures Sunday will reach the upper 30s where there is snow cover to the 40s elsehwere.

You can see the clouds off the southeast coast of the United States is all part of the developing storm system that will move up the coast and take a track to the northeast offshore. You can see the upper air disturbance dropping into the Dakotas is the strong upper air system that is heading into the Great Lakes.

Sunday night will be overcast. I think some snow and rain will develop in Eastern areas of Long Island and Southeast New England and then spread westward. Precipitation will change to snow as cold air works in the atmosphere from high pressure from the north. Keep an eye of the radars to the south and we will watch the precipitation and see how it reacts to the upper flow during Sunday night and Monday.

Im expecting some snow to move from east to west on Monday and the snow will come in bands. The bands will probably weaken as they move westward. The bottom line is for now I think there could be a few inches for coastal areas and much else inland. We will also monitor model runs on Sunday for any changes. There is still room for adjustments in either direction. For now I feel comfortable with my numbers.
