Snow Sunday Night Snow Forecast
After reviewing the overnight GFS and Canadian Weather Model tonight I am making no changes to my first call snow forecast map that I came up with on Thursday. Models were a little weaker with the primary low that heads up to our west. The GFS model does set up a rather strong warm front to our south which creates a front end thumping of snow for areas along the coast.
The GFS model tonight is not as deep with the low which creates a slightly colder profile of the atmosphere for Sunday night into Monday morning.

Meanwhile the Canadian weather model with its weaker primary low has an even colder look and still has it snowing through much of the area on Monday morning.
This is going to make tonight’s European model run very important in terms of what it wants to do going forward. Snowfall amounts on the GFS model and the Canadian model are below.
Again given what I have seen so far, I feel comfortable with my forecast being under both models predictions. There is plenty of time to adjust in either direction. What did surprise me is that the GFS generates 3/4 inch of precipitation Sunday night over the area and it does it very fast which supports the idea of a quick thumping of snow. The question will be how much and how long with the cold air hang on before it changes to rain.
