Snow Forecast Estimates Raised 02092017
After reviewing everything from overnight it appears that the NAM model seems to be winning the other model’s over to its side of the equation. I’m am raising snow accumulation forecasts for the area from just west of New York City across Long Island and Southern Connecticut to indicate 6 inches or more. Snow amounts for most other areas remain pretty much as is. The NAM model is leading all the other models by the nose so apparently including the European.
I think snow develops during the early morning hours from south to north on Thursday and lasts until early to mid afternoon (a bit longer eastern areas. Temperatures will be falling through the 20s on Thursday and drop to single digits and teens by Friday morning.
As far as today goes some rain is on the way. Freezing rain issues appear to be minimal in my view as temperatures will be close to or above 32 by the time the rain gets to the colder spots north and northwest. Everywhere else temperatures are basically in the upper 30s to mid 40s already so there are no issues.
