Snow Coating to 2 Inches Possible Sunday Night
Snow Forecast Map No Changes
We see that today’s temperatures have adjusted by 20 degrees or more from Friday’s highs as a new air mass has built in from the northwest. The satellite loops show some patchy high clouds streaming northeastward to the south with some instability clouds to the northwest so between the two some patchy clouds could mix in with the sun today. Temperatures will be in the 30s for highs. Winds are still rather gusty from the northwest so we will have the wind chill readings in the 20s for most of the day. No precipitation is forecast as the regional and local radars are clear so enjoy it though stay warm.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Tonight bodes well with mainly clear skies with lows in the teens to low 20s in most places. Then on Sunday we will see sunshine giving way to arriving clouds with highs reaching into the 30s. The cold high moves out and another cold high is building down from Canada. In between we have a weak front with a little wave on it that will bring some snow Sunday night.
This is another one of these systems like some previous ones where the snow falls south of NYC for the most part though the northern fringe of this makes it to about Route 80 in New Jersey & skims Long Island. We though a coating to an inch seemed fair yesterday and we remain with that forecast. There will be an area in New Jersey south of Route 195 and in Southeast Pennsylvania that could wind up with an inch or two out of this.
This is primarily a 7pm to 7am event Sunday night into Monday Morning. Areas to the north will be more along the lines of midnight to daybreak. It is a weak system that will move right along and weather conditions will improve on Monday though clouds may have a tough time getting out of the way. The next and stronger weather system complex is setting up for later Monday night & Tuesday and is coming out faster on recent model runs. This will be a more important snow sleet freezing rain to rain event with an emphasis on the sleet and freezing rain part. We will evaluate this with a separate post later today.
