Snow Chance Thursday Cold Midweek

It appears we may have a couple of chances for snow this week with the first begin on Thursday and another Friday but before we get to that we have a nice Monday ahead of us for the most part with some sunshine and arriving clouds later today. Some scattered snow showers moved through overnight and they didn’t amount to much as far as I could see. Temperatures today will be in the 30s to near 40. Then overnight temperatures probably won’t fall much as a warm front approaches. Most of the snow with that will pass by to our north.

Temperatures overnight will probably hold steady or even rise a bit in some places as they settle in the 30s. A few rain or snow showers or possible overnight and again Tuesday morning as a cold front passes through. Highs Tuesday will be in the 40s before it turns windy and sharply colder. A few snow showers are possible Tuesday night as cold air settles in and by Wednesday morning we will be bottoming in the teens to lower 20s. Wednesday we will have sunshine but highs will only be in the 20s to near 30 which is at least 10-15 degrees below average.

Two weather systems are in play for Thursday and Friday. Both look to be weak at the moment with each one capable of producing a coating to a couple of inches. The one on Friday I think has the chance of producing a bit more if the upper air setup becomes a bit more dynamic.

Right now the GFS model passes the bulk of any precipitation to our south but of course after what happened Saturday with adjustments to the left (closer to the coast) and snow further northwest we have to be open to that possibility. The winter pattern looks like it may relax a bit next week with a trend toward average temperatures. We will examine that later today.
