Slow Improvement Next 3 Days Warmer Weather Next Week
It would be nice if we could see genuine improvement today. It has been a week of mostly doom and gloom so it would be nice if we could go into this weekend with dry weather and sunshine. The problem however lies with a very strong upper air storm over the Great Lakes that will take another 2 days to clear the Eastern US. This leaves us in an unstable atmosphere today with any sun giving way to developing clouds. There is the chance of scattered showers popping up especially inland. The cold unstable air might even lead to an isolated low top thunderstorm with a little hail or graupel possible. However for most folks you may get away with not seeing a shower today. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

The atmosphere stabilizes at night so skies should at least partially clear with lows in the 30s. Then we will go through it all over again on Saturday with any early sun giving way to developing clouds. Scattered showers are possible especially inland along with the chance for an isolated low top thunderstorm. Highs will be cooler in the mid to upper 50s.
Finally Sunday brings a more stable atmosphere and we should see partly sunny skies that could actually go mostly sunny as the day wears on. Highs will be in the cool low to mid 50s. We will hold on the highs in the 50s with some sunshine on Monday before high pressure moves offshore and winds turn west southwest.
A warm front will move across the Great Lakes and Northeast Monday night into early Tuesday. There could be a shower or two when that warm front goes by but we should transition to partly sunny skies and much warmer conditions by midday Tuesday. Highs will reach the 70s in many places.
It should turn warmer Wednesday with highs in the 70s to near 80 degrees with no worse than partly sunny skies The next cold front will approach Thursday with the chance for showers and thunderstorms. At least we are out of the deep gloom and doom pattern for now and we have a couple of warm days to look forward to longer range.
