Slow Improvement Next 2 Days Weekend Splits
Last night’s rainfalls were fairly inline with forecasts for most of the area. Some spots in and around NYC on both the New Jersey & Long Island side picked up a quick couple of inches last night between 8pm and 10pm as downpours came in from off the ocean. Now we are in the process of working through the leftover cloud cover and the leftover passing showers that are still showing up here and there. The satellite loop still shows the intact upper air storm just offshore spinning its way to the northeast and weakening. To the west is a cold front that is going to create a large severe weather outbreak today across parts of the South. In between is dry and warmer air that is headed this way for Thursday and Friday.

While there will be the passing shower here and there today they should be few and far between. Cloud cover is another matter and that might take well into the night before beginning to break up from west to east. Temperatures today should be back into the 60s and we will be in the upper 60s to low 70s Thursday with at least some sunshine. Friday we could see temperatures in the 70s to near 80. Then we set things up for the weekend.

Saturday we have a shot of low to mid 80s before a back door cold front slides through.Sunday will be on the other side of this with an ocean wind and temperatures in the 60s. I don’t see much rain this weekend other than a shower when the front passes. The next strong cold front will arrive on Monday with some showers and thunderstorms.
