Showers Cold Front Moving Eastward Colder Wednesday

Looking at the satellite loop we can see the clouds to the west swinging eastward as a strong storms continues to move northward south of James Bay in Canada. Radars below have been showing some renegade showers running around this afternoon but the main shower activity is to the west and moving across Pennsylvania. The eastward progress has been slow but that should change in the next few hours. Showers will be rolling through this evening and tonight and there could be a few heavier downpours in some places.

Once the front passes during the early morning hours temperatures from New Jersey to NYC to the Hudson Valley will fall from near 60 to the 40s and even some upper 30s in the Northern and Western areas of New Jersey. Areas to the east could hold on to the warmth a bit longer until the front passes but temperatures should be into the 40s along the coast and east to Connecticut & Long Island by daybreak. Wednesday will be slow to clear out as the front begins to slow down offshore. Temperatures will settle in the 40s with lower amounts into the 30s north and west of the coast by late afternoon. Skies should clear Wednesday night and Thursday looks like a nice day with sunshine and a few clouds and colder with highs just in the 40s.

THURSDAY FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES

Weather models continue to show a wave developing on the front and moving northeast and we could see some snow grazing the coastal areas of New Jersey to NYC to Long Island & Coastal Connecticut late Friday night into Saturday morning. This doesn’t look to be a big deal but for snow lovers but there is still a fair amount of uncertainty in the position of the front offshore and the timing of the wave moving along it.
