Severe Weather Risk Today Great Weather Follows Next 4 Days

The map above is a live look at the severe weather risk for today and it encompasses much of the interior Northeast away from coastal locations. We have some showers that have developed ahead of a warm front this morning and they are showing up on the radar and they will be passing through on and off into the midday hours. None of the downpours at the moment appear especially heavy. Thunderstorms should they happen will occur late in the afternoon or evening once we get into the warmer more humid air mass. Along the coast with south facing shorelines the wind off the water will likely kill off any thunderstorms as they approach late today. Temperatures today should reach the upper 70s to near 80 later this afternoon but only 60s for Coastal Connecticut & Long Island. The highest risk for any severe weather will be interior New Jersey and Across Pennsylvania and Upstate NY.

Once we are done with this let the nice weather stretch begin. We are looking at sunshine from Thursday through Sunday Fathers Day. Humidity levels will be low right through Sunday with temperatures by day into the 80s. Other than occasional passing clouds for one reason or another, there is no rain forecast through Sunday.

Monday is looking like a brutally hot and humid day with temperatures possibly climbing into the middle 90s or higher across a large area from Virginia to Southern New England. How high will depend on clouds and there will be the risk for thunderstorms late in the day as a cold front drops down from the north. The front seems a little slower than yesterday and this could prolong some of the hot temperatures into Tuesday before we cool off.
