Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 4PM Wind Advisory Into Tonight
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the area from Delaware to Southern New England including Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and NYC and surrounding counties until 4pm. Warm air is pushing northward through New Jersey and into Southern New England. The cold front is approaching and that front will be moving through this afternoon. Thunderstorms are developing to the west. Once the front moves through winds will be increasing sharply late today with gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
We are watching the regional radar closely with two lines of showers and thunderstorms moving east. Keep an eye on the regional radars as these thunderstorms will be coming into range as temperatures continue to rise into and through the 60s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Once these storms move out we will see improving weather conditions tonight and into Friday though winds will continue to be strong and gusty overnight and into Friday. Colder air comes in for Friday and Saturday. Easter Sunday we will be dry during the day however a major storm will be developing in the Southern Plains and heading to the Great Lakes. This sets us up for heavy rain Sunday night into Monday. More on the short and long range is available on today’s earlier post.
