Saint Joseph’s Day Sunshine Nice Weather Rain First Day of Spring
Today is going to be a nice day from start to finish with sunshine and nothing more than a few patchy clouds. We are benefiting from a very dry pattern that is dominating weather across most of the US with the exception of Florida. Low pressure is moving across Southern Florida on a stalled frontal boundary with rain. This quiet period nationwide will be coming to an end over the next few days but we still have more time with dry nice conditions. Highs today will be in the 40s to near 50.

Tonight will be clear and it won’t be a cold with lows mostly in the 30s with 20s in cold spots inland. Wednesday looks great with sunshine and highs in the 50s. Then the next cold front approaches on Thursday. Low pressure off the East Coast of Florida gets kicked out to the east but some energy on the northwest side of that feature hooks up with the approaching front and runs northward. This will bring a period of rain late Thursday and Thursday night. Highs Thursday highs will be in the 50s. With a low moviing away Thursday night it will strengthen as it heads into the Gulf of Maine. This sets us up for a windy chilly Friday.
We have a tight pressure gradient setting up between the low to the northeast and a high to the northwest. Friday we will also see clouds developing as the day wears on with rain and snow showers. Temperatures will just be in the 40s. The weekend looks pretty much the way it has looked for the last few days. Sunshine for Saturday with highs in the 40s to near 50. Sunday it turns warmer with sunshine with highs reaching the 50s to around 60.
Next week we will be in typical early spring mode which means warm ups ahead of cold fronts like what happens next Monday. We could see 60s ahead of it before the front passes. A cold high builds in for a couple of days forcing low pressure to move across with south with severe weather threats and heavy rains in the Tennessee Valley to the Carolinas. We will see a few showers later Monday into Monday night and then it looks chilly but dry for the last days of March. Chatter mills and weather gossip spreaders will do the usual run to run cheer leading selectively pulling snow maps every 6 hours. This is not forecasting.
