Euro Model More Bullish On Rain
Colder Weekend
When temperatures at 9am are already above 70 and in some cases the middle 70s you know you are heading for record highs today. This will be the last day of record highs as we begin the process of a change to colder weather this weekend. Hopefully some much needed rain will fall in between
The wind today is more west or west southwest instead of south southwest and this will keep the sea breeze at bay for awhile at least so everyone should get into the 80s today.
On te satellite loop this morning there isn’t too much happening to the west with just some dying clouds. To the southeast we have broad low pressure east of the Bahamas that has become a big yawn so far. Though conditions seem to be more favorable for development today as the shear is relaxing, I wouldn’t hold my breath on this as it is running out of time. In any event it will be absorbed by developing low pressure east of Cape Cod Friday night and that brings down colder air for the weekend.
The European model last night has the most bullish outlook for rain with the developing storm southeast of Cape Cod. It is further south and much slower with lifting it northeastward. It shows widespread rain here Friday night into Saturday evening. It would have the tropical moisture from this system in the Bahamas much more important and enhancing the rainfall as well as the strength of the non tropical low.
The trough on the European is deeper and left which allows for the surface low to develop further south off the Delaware Coast instead of Cape Cod. The developing blocking pattern seems to slow everything down later in the weekend. Rainfall forecasts on the European would be in the 1 to 2 inch rain especially for areas to the north up the Hudson Valley and Western New England. Either way it makes for a chilly weekend with highs only in the low to mid 50s by day and nights in the 30s and 40s going into Monday.
