RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET TODAY NEW YORK CITY 97!

It took until September 8th to do it but for many areas this was the hottest day of the summer. As measured by departure from normal and adjusted for say mid July this would be the equivalent of hitting 105 or more in some places! This would be seasonally adjusted. Im not talking about heat index here, im talking temperature relative to the time of year. These are the 3pm temps around our area and these are probably close to the highs of the day. New York City Central Park hit 97 degrees which breaks the old record of 93 set back in 1919. I will be posting other record high temperature records as they come in.

One more hot one tomorrow with more record high temperatures possible followed by a cold front that stalls out and we get some rain here Thursday and Thursday night. There could be some thunderstorms late Wednesday afternoon across Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey. How much we get from those remains to be seen. The main widespread rain will be from Thursday noon into Friday morning. There could be another round of rain late in the day Saturday into Sunday morning and be sure to check the latest on this on the Joe’s forecast page
