Raising Snow Estimates Across The Area
Winter Storm Warning 03212018
After looking at all the late afternoon weather models and what has fallen today across the Southern half of New Jersey and in particular in Southeast and South Central Pennsylvania I decided to do a little massaging of the numbers a bit higher and raised the max area to 8 to 12 inches from 6 to 10 inches. It seems reasonable given that the models are actually producing double those amounts that a 50% of those amounts still makes for a rather conservative forecast. We will discuss this further tonight on the JOE & JOE SHOW on my facebook page meteorologist Joe Cioffi.
US SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
The first area of precipitation is beginning to weaken on the radar as it hits the very dry air that is over areas of NY State and New England. This is working out exactly according to what weather models were showing and everything appears to be on course.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
There are no change in our forecast for tomorrow. Snow will begin to develop across Central New Jersey south and east and then expand northwestward into the Hudson Valley, Northeast Pennsylvania Connecticut and Long Island around or just after daybreak. The heaviest snow will be from mid morning to mid evening. Some places could see sleet mixing in for awhile into midday but it should be all snow after that. It snows well into Wednesday night and it should be gone by daybreak Thursday in all areas except perhaps in Eastern Long Island.
