Rains Advancing Northward For Evening Commute
Rains Advancing Northward For Evening Commute
The satellite loop shows the upper air storm along the North Carolina coast and it has weakened somewhat from yesterday. However it is still pulling up tropical mositure from off the Atlantic Ocean and sending it land bound. So far the rain today has been on the light side but the heavier downpours are beginning to develop on radar and they are moving northwestward toward the coast. This is going to make for a wet evening commute and also the first part of tonight will see some heavier downpours. I still think most areas will finish up with an inch or so of rain with some locally higher amounts depending on who gets into the heavier downpours.
The HRRR model is still insisting on pockets of 2 inches or more and this will depend on how robust these downpours develop as we move into the overnight period. So far the HRRR model has not done to well with this system since most of what has fallen so far has been under a quarter of an inch. The exception is in South and Coastal New Jersey where the rain came in a bit sooner.

Showers might still be around Wednesday morning particularly near the coast before they pull away to the northeast. Weather conditions in general should slowly improve Wednesday with leftover clouds and a leftover passing shower or two. Temperatures which today struggled in the low to mid 50s should reach the 60s. Wednesday. Thursday and Friday we should see some sunshine and highs in the 70s. Friday temperatures across much of New Jersey and points southward could reach 80 or so.
