Rain Ending Clouds Remain Showers Thunderstorms Thursday

Changeable Skies Weekend

Overnight and this morning we have seen raw and rainy conditions. Winds are from the northeast off the cold ocean, temperatures are in the 40s to near 50, and we have light to moderate rain on the radars. The low stands out on the satellite picture this morning as it sits offshore. We have a storm in the Western Great Lakes with an approaching cold front. That system will kick this system out to the east later today. Rain should end from west to east around midday to early afternoon. We will have leftover clouds after that and temperatures topping out in the 50s but not until the rain comes to an end.

As one system leaves, the next one is getting ready to come in Thursday and that will be the cold front mentioned earlier. Clouds will be around tonight with temperatures in the 40s. The onshore flow will continue tonight into Thursday morning. This will hold temperatures back on Thursday with highs just into the 50s. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two is likely during the afternoon and into Thursday night. We are sitting outside the Storm Prediction Center’s risk zone for Thursday at least for now.

There are no changes in the outlook for Friday and Saturday. We have a strong upper trough that will be moving very slowly eastward and it won’t pass offshore until Sunday. Look for a mix of sun and clouds Friday and Saturday with some scattered showers around with the highest chances inland. Most of you may not see much on either day. Highs will be into the 60s on Friday. Highs will be in the 50s Saturday. Sunday will be a bit better with more sun, fewer clouds, and highs again in the 50s.
