Rain Arrives Late Tonight
When you look at the radar right now, the first (and maybe only) round of snow has moved to the northeast after leaving a coating to an inch in some places. The second area of precipitation is still a good 6 to 8 hours away. With temperatures to start rising soon, it is quite possible that by the time all this precipitation gets here, it will be rain in most areas. This is what we are betting on. Just beware that the HRRR does show a narrow band of heavy snow that will create a burst somewhere in NW NJ between 2am and 4am

Rainfall Monday morning could be heavy and we might see a quick inch or so before the rain begins to end from west to east late in the morning and gone by or just after lunch time. We should see improvement in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the 40s and some areas will see temperatures into the 50s.
Tuesday will be a little colder and then arctic air begins to arrive late Wednesday with a real push of cold air Thursday into Friday. We could see lows in the single digits and lower teens by Friday morning with temperatures in the 20s both Thursday and Friday by day! We will carefully monitor overnight models to see if the arrival of the cold air will come with any snow.
Earlier tonight we were uptown on 5th Ave and also went to Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree. Enjoy the beauty of Christmas in New York.
