Onshore Flow Begins Clouds Some Rain Into Thursday

The 80 degree days are done for now at least and the next 3 days we will be in a flow off the ocean. High pressure is building across the Eastern Great Lakes to New England while a wave to the south swings east. The upper air support with this is actually weakening as it comes east rather than strengthening so this is going to limit how much rain we get. Much of what is showing up on the radar is blotchy and there are some large dry gaps. The likelihood is that for the rest of the day we will see cloudy skies, a developing northeast to east wind and some light rain or drizzle developing with temperatures just into the 70s and once any rain gets underway it will quickly drop into the 60s.

You can see some patchy rain on the radar with some heavier rain southward into parts of Delaware and Delmarva. They are closer to the boundary of warm air. The heavy rain will stay to our south and east while some other heavier patches will go by to our north and west.

Rainfall amounts won’t amount to much and certainly not enough to cause any serious issues. A quarter of an inch or less in most places is the most likely outcome.

Thursday will start off cloudy but dry air will try and drop southward from Northern New England so there could be some breaks of sunshine developing for the Hudson Valley & Connecticut later in the day. That dry air will eventually spread southward to New Jersey & Southeastern Pennslyvania by late Thursday or certainly Thursday night. Highs Thursday will just be in the 60s and lows Friday morning will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Some sunshine will finish off the work week Friday with highs in the 60s to near 70. As far as the weekend is concerned look for a west southwest which means back to warmer temperatures and some sunshine both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 70s to near 80 both days. No rain is forecast through the weekend.
