One Last Wave Before Sunshine Tuesday
Today we will be seeing a combination of a surface low moving up the coast and a weakening upper low almost sitting on top of it making for cloud issues on this Monday morning. Not everyone is in clouds today however as there are breaks in the cloud cover inland but we can also see clouds backing in from the east as the low offshore spins away.
SATELLITE
We are also seeing what looks like a ball of clouds off the Delaware coast producing an area of rain with embedded heavy downpours. The echos on the radar are backing westward toward the coast. Some lead showers are showing up on the Upton NY local radar back northwestward. Get ready for some rain to move in from the southeast late today and there could be some low top thunderstorms that develop just offshore this afternoon and evening.
REGIONAL RADAR
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
It appears that the western edge of the rain makes to the immediate coast and backs westward to about Western Connecticut, NYC to the Jersey Shore & Long Island this afternoon. The low will gradually lift to the northeast tonight and weather conditions will improve. Temperatures today will reach the upper 50s and lower 60s. Then we head into Tuesday which is looking like a much better day.
Tuesday brings us a break in the action of clouds and rain with a nice sunny mild April day with highs reaching the 70s away from the coast and 60s to near 70 along coastal areas before any sea breeze takes hold. The next cold front will move through Wednesday morning. There could be a few passing showers Tuesday night but they won’t amount to much. Then it is back to some sunshine for Wednesday and Thursday with highs into the 60s. At least we will catch a break from the continuous battle with clouds and rain and squeeze in a few nice days in between weather systems. The pattern going forward is one of cold front coming through every couple of days but they don’t looks especially strong and they look like they also want to keep on moving which is a good thing. Right now I am guardedly optimistic about the weekend.
