November Cold Blast Short Sharp
November Cold Blast Short Sharp
The November cold blast that is on the way remains on schedule. It will be sharp but short and to the point. This time of year cold air masses when they come down tend to move in and out quick but this one is rather strong and it will produce some record lows on Friday (though that may happen after sunset) and on Saturday morning where lows everywhere will be in the upper teens to mid 20s. This will be a widespread freeze and it ends the growing season throughout the Northeast & Middle Atlantic states.
NOVEMBER COLD BLAST SATURDAY 7AM TEMPERATURES
We can see the Arctic front swinging across the Great Lakes on the satellite loop. That front moves through here Thursday evening and there might be a passing shower with that. It will produce a few hours of snow squalls in upstate New York when it goes by Thursday morning. Temperatures here should reach the low to mid 50s before the front passes.
SATELLITE LOOP
REGIONAL RADAR
Friday will be a blustery cold day with a north wind and sunshine but temperatures will probably settle in the 30s and drop into the 20s after sunset. Record lows will possibly be set for Friday between sunset and midnight with record lows again Saturday morning when temperatures hit bottom. Saturday we will see some sunshine with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Since there is no blocking the high will move out and temperatures will moderate on Sunday along with a arriving clouds. Highs will be in the 40s to near 50. A weak system approaches from the Ohio Valley and there could be some showers Sunday night or early Monday morning. It is possible that the air may still be cold enough to produce some sleet or wet snow flakes as precipitation arrives.
