Nice Weather Weekend Continues No Rain Until Friday As Strong Cold Front Nears

The nice weather continues today as high pressure holds along the East Coast. To the south we have a coastal storm off the South Carolina coast that is moving very slowly eastward and not northward. The only issue from this system for us will be perhaps a few patchy high clouds come into the mix at times. Otherwise it is a nice day of sunshine taking highs to the mid to upper 50s this afternoon.

With the coastal storm moving away to the east, it will allow weather systems to start to move along again and that means we can warm up a bit as we head into Monday and Tuesday. Look for sunshine both days. Monday’s highs will reach into the lower 60s in most places and Tuesday’s highs will reach the low and middle 60s.

We do have a cold front that will pass through Tuesday night but it is a weak front with very little weather with it. That will turn the winds back to the north on Wednesday. The air behind the front is not all that cool so we should see highs Wednesday reach the upper 50s and lower 60s with sunshine. Thursday we will be into the 60s with sunshine and some patchy clouds. Winds will start to turn more onshore and eventually around to the south setting up a cold front for Friday.

That next cold front with have some punch to it and we will likely see some showers and thunderstorms later Friday into Friday night and some of the rain will be heavy. The upper trough is likely to lag a bit we we could see a cloudy colder Saturday with a round of rain and temperatures falling into the 40s and 50s before it is all said and done. Weather models suggest another upper trough will be swinging around with low pressure coming east out of the Ohio Valley for early next week. Colder air will be overspreading the Eastern US and Great Lakes over the weekend and into the long range forecast period. So enjoy the next 5 days (including today) with the relatively calm, and relatively warm weather.
