Nice Mid March Weather Arrives Today Tuesday
The weekend was okay and it certainly was much better from the standpoint of temperatures as those numbers continue to climb. We have been doing it in 10 degree steps a day and we we will reach into the 50s today just about everywhere. We are even at the point where the warming temperatures will likely trigger sea breezes along south facing shorelines like Long Island & Coastal Connecticut. The Jersey shore will see impact from a developing south or southeast wind as well.
The satellite loop this morning shows not much at all in the way of cloud cover across Southern New England South into Delaware and Virginia. Low pressure is off the North Carolina coast and we can see the clouds from that system churning just offshore. This system will get kicked out to the east northeast and well offshore with not much consequence. There is some rain in Coastal North Carolina and SW Virginia. Otherwise it is a quiet nice spring day.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Tonight will be relatively warm with most lows in the 40s with patchy dense fog. That sets us up for a warm Tuesday with clouds and some sunshine and highs reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. A cold front is going to me moving through and their won’t be much with it. This will be the leading edge of a shallow cold air mass that will come in for Wednesday into Thursday.
Wednesday morning we will back down in the 20s to low 30s. Then a weak low will approach and there will be an area of rain and freezing rain moving across Pennsylvania. The system does look weak. Weather models don’t seem to be doing much with this other than clouds for Wednesday. There is the chance for a little bit of rain into Wednesday afternoon and cold spots inland of the coast could see some freezing rain out of this. As long as the system is weak, we don’t expect this to be overly problematic.
The next system in the Plains will head to the Great Lakes. and then northeast with a cold front arriving here late this week. This system doesn’t look to have much impact here other than some showers early Thursday and again late Thursday into Thursday night. Temperatures will likely be warming up through the 40s and into 50s again. A cold front passes late Friday and it will turn colder for the weekend. Long range some uncertainty appears regarding rain or snow early next week and we will address this later today.
