METEOROLOGIST APP WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR ALL OF EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK CITY, LONG ISLAND, SOUTHEAST NEW YORK, AND ALL OF CONNECTICUT THROUGH TONIGHT
Moisture ahead of the developing storm in the Southern Appalachians continues to stream northward as evidenced by the satellite loop and the radar loop below. Temperatures away from the coast are having a difficult time rising which is going to prolong the snow/ice inland by at least a few hours.

With regards to snow and ice, the short range models begin to move the 32 degree line slowly northward over the next 6 hours with some areas north of New York City under 32 by midnight but with temperatures rising.
Here is my new snowfall forecast map which is adjusting for some of the snowfall that has already fallen. Some significant icing is likely inland. Everything changes to rain between midnight and 5 am as temperatures continue to rise area wide into the 50s along coastal areas but colder 40s inland during Tuesday.
