Memorial Day Gloominess Continues Tuesday
Memorial Day Gloominess Continues Tuesday
We continue to see gloomy conditions going into this evening across much of the area. There has been the occasional brightening of skies in some places but most areas continue to sit in a low overcast with some drizzle or spotty light rain in a few places. The steady rain is long gone. The problem is that the onshore flow is not going to relax enough to allow for wholesale sunshine to break out on Tuesday. There will be some brightening and breaks of sun possible in Southeast Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey where temperatures could break 70 but where it stays overcast temperatures will struggle in the 60s. There is the chance for a passing shower and in some areas well away from the coast there could even be a thunderstorm Tuesday late afternoon or evening.

Wednesday it seems that the onshore flow relaxes enough to allow for more breaks of sunshine and warmer temperatures. A cold front will approach late in the day and that could mean a better chance for a shower or thunderstorm even at the coast. Temperatures should make the 70s everywhere and some places could get close to 80.
Wednesday also could be a day with some isolated severe thunderstorms and the Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service does have much of our area at a marginal risk for severe weather except near the coast.
Thursday right now looks ok with no showers or thunderstorms and sunshine for everyone. Temperatures will be in the 70s. Then the next front approaches for Friday and Saturday with the chance for showers and thunderstorms though Saturday I believe the odds are higher.
