Late Summer Autumn Afternoon
Late Summer Autumn Afternoon
We are seeing sunshine this afternoon but there are clouds on the satellite loop coming in from the west. A cold front is stalling out virtually overhead and a weak wave is developing to the west in Ohio & Indiana. That wave will ride the front eastward and it could bring a few showers tonight. In the meantime temperatures this afternoon have reached the 80s in many locations but it isn’t overly uncomfortable.
SATELLITE LOOP
REGIONAL RADAR
The regional radar is showing rain moving into Western Pennsylvania at the moment and it is moving to the east. The area of rain will weaken somewhat as it moves eastward. Local radars below showing a few spotty scattered showers mainly offshore though one or two echos are popping up inland.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Once the wave goes by we should go to a mix of sun and clouds on Friday with temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 or so. The weekend is looking warm but it should be rain free with clouds and some sun. Nighttime and early morning patchy dense fog is likely especially along coastal areas.
NATE’S RAINS COULD BE HERE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY
Monday into early Tuesday we will be dealing with the remnant low of Tropical Storm (or hurricane) Nate. Weather models have shifted a bit to the west overnight with the track and normally this doesn’t produce big rains here. However there is a disturbance in the jet stream that will be picking up the remnant low of Nate and taking it northeastward. This could enhance the rain to some degree and the GFS model is producing 1 to 2 inch rainfall amounts. This assumes that Nate tracks to the Central Gulf States and goes up the west side of the Appalachians however if the track shifts back to the Eastern Gulf States this could change the rain forecast going forward.
