Last Summer Holiday Weekend Best of the 3 Week Ahead Mostly Uneventful

Holiday weekends have not been too kind to us this year but the Labor Day holiday weekend continues to shape up to be mostly a good one. It won’t be perfect due to two minor interruptions Sunday but that is all they are, minor. Labor Day weekend usually has a hurricane or tropical storm running around somewhere and we have Larry but that hurricane is so far out in the Atlantic and is no threat to the US. It may eventually make a close pass to Bermuda and possibly Newfoundland later next week. So it is on to a beautiful Friday of sunshine and low humidity with highs in the low to mid 70s and a lovely north breeze.

Nothing in the overnight weather model runs suggest any need for a change in the outlook going forward. Skies tonight will be clear with lows in the 50s to around 60. Saturday looks nice and sunny and still delightfully dry. Highs will be in a range of 75 to near 80.

Clouds will arrive Saturday night ahead of a warm front and that could trigger a shower or thunderstorm early Sunday morning. Then we go to clouds and some sun with highs reaching into the 80s. The humidity will come up but it will still be reasonable. Then a cold front approaches and moves through Sunday night and there could be a shower or thunderstorm ahead of that but they should be scattered. Once the front passes it leaves us with a dry partly sunny Monday with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s with comfortable humidity.

Tuesday we will start to turn warmer and more humid into Wednesday when a stronger cold front arrives. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday will reach into the 80s. We don’t expect any shower or thunderstorm issues Tuesday but we do expect them late Wednesday. It is a stronger upper trough swinging into the East and some of these thunderstorms will be strong. The front will sweep offshore and the upper trough will take Hurricane Larry east of Bermuda (hopefully) and then north and northeast front here. This will be followed by another dry cool air mass to finish off next week and take us into next weekend. Autumn fast approaches and it will be in the air!
