Joestradamus Summer Returns Shortly
We are continuing to see Hermine wind down and weakening slowly east of the New Jersey coast and south of the Long Island South Shore. Clouds have backed westward and they will be around into Wednesday. The general rule of thumb will be that the further west you go, the more sun you will see on Wednesday. Temperatures where there is sunshine will be in the 80s and in the 70s where it is more overcast. By Wednesday night Hermine will be gone and kicked away to the northeast and then here comes some 90 degree weather for a couple of days.

When we look at the upper air profile the big ridge to our west will finally build in to the east coast on Thursday. This will give us two days of temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s. We should also see a good deal of sunshine. Some places will see records broken on Friday though in some places the bar is set pretty high.

Over the weekend the west northwest flow in the upper atmosphere will bring a cold front through and the ridge will displace to the east The hot weather will begin to diminish as a cold front moves through on Sunday. Other than a shower or thunderstorm with that front, this pattern will keep us relatively dry until further notice. There is nothing in the long range which suggest any kind of widespread substantial rain.

There are several disturbances forecast to move off the African coast over the next several days. Right now it appears that the upper air would not necessarily be supportive for anything impacting the east coast anytime soon. With Hermine finally disappearing we need a bit of a break.
