Hurricane Matthew Sounding All Clear Northeast (for now)
Based on everything we area seeing today so far and from overnight models it appears safe to sound the all clear for the Northeast US regarding Hurricane Matthew. On the satellite loop below you can see Matthew coming into the picture in the Bahamas and it continues to organize as winds are now 120 mph. Tropical Storm Nicole is on the lower right corner and while it is no threat to land at the moment it is going to be a player in what Hurricane Matthew does longer term. We will have more on this later.
Otherwise we are enjoying a nice sunny afternoon across Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey through Southern New England although low clouds continue to hang around nearby coastal areas. Gradually the dry air to the north will push southward and sunshine should carry us through the rest of the week with warmer 70s for Thursday and Friday.
As far as the weekend goes a weak cold front moves through Saturday and other than clouds and a spot shower there won’t be much with it. Sunday and Monday will be dry and cool. We should see some sunshine each day through the weekend and into Monday.
As far as Hurricane Matthew is concerned, hurricane warnings have been extended northward along the Florida east coast. Here is the latest on Hurricane Matthew.
