Overnight Danny which is a very small hurricane continues on a West Northwest track and with the eye being fairly well defined, winds were increased to 85 mph. The Hurricane has another 24 hours in a favorable environment before it hits the shearing that lies to the west. If it weakens the track is likely to be more westerly over time.
The Hurricane Center takes Danny over the Leeward Islands and then south of Puerto Rico..assuming it survives which given the issues of shear and dry air, there is a distinct possibility that it could weaken to a depression or even a tropical wave when it gets there. Wouldn’t be the first time it happens. For now it is small but well defined on the visible satellite.
With regards to the upper low off the east coast it continues to sit there and some convection appears to be developing in that hooking you see on the loop motion. You can also see our dying cold front along the coast as well. Cold lows take time and we will see what it does today.
