Temperatures this afternoon are already in the upper 80s to lower 90s across much of the area and so far the sea breeze is confined mainly to the immediate coast of south facing shorelines.

With clouds still a few hours away, the blazing sun will continue to heat things up and temperatures should edge higher into mid afternoon. Air Quality Alerts are flying everywhere so exercise a little common sense and don’t go running a marathon in the hottest part of the day.

Radars are pretty quiet and the atmosphere is rather tame this afternoon so I don’t expect anything to develop as far as showers go though I suppose it is always possible that some isolated cell could pop up this evening inland. I rate the chances very low.
Friday we will see another very warm day with a mix of sun and clouds. A disturbance coming through late in the day might set off a shower or thunderstorm but much of the day will be fine. The holiday weekend is looking pretty good with no worse than a mix of sun and clouds and the risk of late showers or thunderstorms each day. Temperatures will be warm with highs in the 80s but it will be cooler at the shore each day. But for much of the time it will be rain free. We will have more on this later today.
Also odds are increasing that we may have a tropical system off the Southeast US coast this weekend per the National Hurricane Center and here is the latest on that prospect.
