Heavy Rain Moving Northeast
The satellite loop and radars are loading up for a second round of drought denting rains. You can see the large streak of clouds shooting northeastward with Gulf of Mexico tropical moisture. Rain is going to be moving in shortly and we see some heavy rain in the mix on the radars along with some thunderstorms.
Based on the radars we escaped the morning commute for the most part without much rain. However given what is on the radar at the moment we are going to see heavy rain move in over the next few hours from southwest to northeast.
Latest weather models show that we stand a good chance to match yesterday’s rainfall giving some places a two day total of 2 to 4 inches. There may be more variability in rainfall amounts today due to the convective nature and the chance for thunderstorms.
Weather conditions should begin to improve on Thursday with clouds giving way to some sunshine. Highs will be in the 50s but it will begin to turn colder at night and on Friday with highs back into the 40s. Longer term models are differing on early next week with a precipitation threat showing up on the European model but not some of the others. The volatility right now is huge and changes constantly from model run to model run. We will have more on this later today.
