Heavy Rain 1-3 Inches Moving Up Coast
We are watching a rather impressive looking radar this morning with heavy rain developing and spreading northward through New Jersey and into NYC, Long Island, Southern New England, and the Hudson Valley this morning. Weather models overnight gave a mixed to bullish view for a 1 to 3 inch rainfall which was my original forecast days ago and it remains unchanged. Look for moderate to heavy rain throughout the day and it will begin to end across New Jersey from south to north this evening as low pressure develops off the New Jersey coast and intensifies as it moves northeast. For areas from NYC and Connecticut eastward the rain will continue into the early morning hours and should be over with by daybreak Sunday. Temperatures today will at best in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Winds along the coast will gust to gale force at times and there could be some minor coastal flooding at high tide.

Sunday could see some general improvement but there will be lots of leftover clouds around along with a few passing afternoon showers. Temperatures will at least get back into the 60s. Monday look for sunshine breezy and warmer conditions with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Much warmer air arrives for the mid and late week with highs in the 80s and 90 might not be out of the question on Thursday. More on this later today.
