August Dog Days Heat Humidity Moving Eastward This Week
What a beautiful day it was not just here but up and down the Eastern Seaboard with dry air everywhere. Now as the new week begins we will be gradually transitioning to heat humidity and the chance for thunderstorms but the chance for thunderstorms won’t come until late in the week. The satellite loop shows dry air still covering most of the East except for Florida where yesterday’s cold front has stalled out.

Radars both regionally and locally are quiet and should remain so into midweek. Activity should start popping up inland on Wednesday but it should be widely scattered in nature.

As for temperatures this week, Monday we will see highs reach the low to middle 80s but dew points will be in the 50s so it will still be quite comfortable. Then beginning on Tuesday the humidity starts to climb and temperatures will reach 85 to 90. This will not be a revisit to extreme heat. Temperatures Wednesday and Thursday will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s with uncomfortable levels of humidity.

Friday we will start to see the next cold front approach and that will bring an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms. We are moving into August so it seems we will be getting an immediate taste of the August dog days.
