Dry Weather Into Wednesday
We have Gusty Winds Monday Fire Risk issues continuing thanks to a very dry air mass and a very tight pressure gradient across the northeast. The map below shows it with low pressure over Nova Scotia and high pressure over Ohio. The change in pressure between the two is large relative to the distance between between the two which is short. The result is wind. The air from Canada this time of year is super dry. Relative humidity levels in the 20 to 30 percent range means bone dry conditions Monday so there is the risk for brush fires across the entire area so exercise caution with open flames outdoors.
The satellite loop shows the strong storm and vortex in Eastern Canada. The presence of a vortex there prevents it from getting hot around here and the pattern favors it staying that way through next weekend. Dry weather should dominate into Wednesday.
Radars will remain quiet into midweek. After that the presence of that vortex in one form or another will force low pressure to our south with a bit of an onshore flow developing. Right now it would appear at least initially that any rain should stay to our south late in the week though some moisture could possibly sneak in.
