Flash Flood Watch Severe Weather Risk Monday
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there and I hope you get to enjoy whatever it is they tell you what you need to be doing in order to be happy! From the standpoint of weather today it looks to me mostly dry unless there is the odd downpour here and there. We should see some breaks of sun through the clouds though in some coastal areas the low clouds may be stubborn for awhile. Temperatures will reach into the 80s in most places as well. The warm and humid conditions are setting us up for the cold front that approaches us on Monday.
Flash Flood Watches are posted for much of Central and Northern New Jersey as well as the Hudson Valley Northward. Much of the shower activity of the last few days has been concentrated in this area so any additional rainfall Monday will be problematic.
In addtiion we have an “Enhanced” risk of severe weather Monday for a large are of the Northeast and Northern Middle Atlantic States. The warm humid air mass we are in plus the cold front and very strong upper air dynamics puts the entire area at risk for severe thunderstorms. If you are travelling by air tomorrow check with your airline. i would anticipate delays developing as the day wears on.

At least for today there the issues should be minimal. Monday look for showers and thunderstorms to develope late tomorrow afternoon across Eastern Pennsylvania and then impact the areas from New Jersey eastward Monday evening into Monday night. Gusty winds to 60 mph or more, heavy rain, hail are all on the table with this system. Weather conditions should improve somewhat on Tuesday as the front slides offshore.
