Easter Weekend Brings Bounce In Temperatures Blocking Controls Weather Next Week

When it is spring and you have tasted 70s to near 80 degree weather (think back to last Friday), it makes days like today that much worse. A deep upper trough is moving through the area and offshore. Sunshine today was limited in many areas. We had snow showers scattered around. Temperatures barely made it out of the 30s in many places That is at least 15 to 20 degrees lower than where we should be for the approaching first weekend of April. Add to that a gusty wind and it is another reminder of the season just past.

The good news is that tonight will be the the last truly cold night. Skies will be mostly clear. Winds should start to come off a bit. Temperatures by morning will be in the 20s to lower 30s.

The core of the cold air will be well to the east on Saturday with high pressure to the south. This will allow temperatures to bounce higher with no worse than partly sunny skies. Highs Saturday afternoon should be able to reach the 50s and there should be much less wind.

Easter Sunday looks good with partly sunny skies. There might be a few clouds Saturday night and the outside chance of a passing brief shower as an upper trough goes by. Other than that we should should be okay. Some clouds might linger into Sunday morning before the sun takes over. Highs will reach the upper 50s to lower 60s with some local sea breezes along south and east facing shorelines.

Next week it is going to be about a developing block in the North Atlantic. At first the block is in a good spot for us in that it keeps it dry through Monday. In fact Monday should be nice with sunshine and highs in the low to mid 60s. After that however the block pushes westward and that creates an opportunity for moisture to return on Tuesday with perhaps a few scattered showers.

Eventually the block could be setting us up for a longer period of doom and gloom weather later next week into next weekend and that will be the next issue to resolve going forward. Happy Easter to all!
