Warmer Night Easter Sunday Nice Sunny Warmer Week Ahead Outlook
The core of the most recent cold air mass is now out to the east and we enjoyed a nice Saturday of sunshine. Temperatures recovered back into the 50s. We have an upper trough to the northwest producing some clouds and there are some scattered showers in parts of Western NY and Western Pennsylvania but this area is weakening as it moves east into the blocking low to the east and south of Nova Scotia. We suspect the clouds will be around tonight and that will help to hold temperatures up in the 30s to near 40 in most places.

Sunday look for clouds mixed with sunshine. Probably we will see more clouds in the morning than in the afternoon. Temperatures will be able to recover nicely as highs should reach the upper 50s and lower 60s in most places. Local sea breezes are likely along south and east facing shorelines. Other than that it should be a fine Easter Sunday.
Monday should be a nice day with sunshine and a north northwest to north wind. Low pressure is out the east and it is leaving us in a sweet spot between it and a weak low and upper trough over the Great Lakes. Highs Monday should reach the low to mid 60s. Even at the shore the sea breeze will likely not appear or if it does it will be extremely localized.
Tuesday sees us in between two stronger systems. One is heading for the Western Great Lakes. The other is well offshore to the east. Also in between is another weakening system much like the one we are seeing tonight. This likely will put us in a mix of sun and clouds Tuesday. While the GFS is showing the chance for some scattered showers late Tuesday into Wednesday, other models are much weaker with this and are showing little to no precipitation. We will leave showers out for now and emphasize the positive here. Tuesday’s highs will be in the low to mid 60s. We will also keep it optimistic for Wednesday with clouds and some sun with highs in the 60s.
The traffic jam being caused by the offshore low to the east is significant as the low on Tuesday heading for the Great Lakes takes three days to move a relatively short distance east. This will likely keep things dry on Thursday. We will have a high building to are north and that will make the flow more onshore. This will keep temperatures in the 50s south and east facing shorelines and into the 60s inland and west. We will also probably see more clouds than sun Thursday. The next chance for any showers will probably be Friday. Improvement should follow for next weekend with temperatures close to average. No major storms or severe weather is forecast for our neck of the woods for the next week or longer.
