Dry Chilly Weather Ahead All of Next Week No Storms Snow Rain Short Term
We start our Sunday with clouds around and temperatures that are not all that cold as we bottomed out in the lower 30s. We still have some work to do regarding the atmosphere in the Northeast. A storm is sitting in Eastern Canada. An upper trough is swinging east across the Ohio Valley. It doesn’t have much to work on so we will see a mix of sun and clouds today along the coastal plain from Southern New England to Maryland and Delaware. Temperatures will reach the low and middle 40s.

The lake effect snow machine has been working overtime and will continue to work over the next couple of days. You can see those snow showers in the New England view. On the Mid Atlantic view you see snow showers from the upper trough moving east into Western Pennsylvania south into West Virginia. Lake effect snows are moving southeast while the snows with the upper trough to the west and south are moving east. None of that reaches the coast.
Skies should at least partially clear tonight with most lows in the lower 30s. Monday brings us another day of a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be a little lower than today with afternoon temperatures in the lower 40s. This week will see a slow decline the temperatures as the week wears on.
Watching the GFS loop above for the week ahead it is about weak troughs and fronts coming through and each one turns it a little colder by day and night. The northwest flow is dry so even these troughs have a tough time producing a snow shower. Look for sun and clouds Tuesday with highs in the upper 30s to around or just over 40. Wednesday through Friday will be cold with sunshine each day along with a few clouds. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s Wednesday and low to mid 30s Thursday into Friday. Nights will settle in the 20s and teens as the week moves ahead. It will be breezy to occasionally windy as well varying from day to day. No major storms, no minor storms, just quiet chilly to cold weather ahead.
