Dry Air Sinking South
Dry Air Sinking South
Clouds Return Thursday
Rain Later In The Day
The clearing line on the satellite loop has been slowly sinking southward today but in southern areas from Central New Jersey southward into Southeastern Pennsylvania the clouds are still fairly solid and they may not break up there until this evening sometime. North of Central New Jersey up toward New York City, the Hudson Valley Long Island and Connecticut, skies have become partly to mostly sunny and a nice late afternoon and evening has been served up.
Dry Air Sinking South Radar Loops
There were some showers across southern areas this morning but the latest radar shows those showers have moved away to the east and are no longer a threat. No rain is expected tonight into Thursday morning. However weather conditions will deteriorate during the day on Thursday.
Dry Air Sinking South Local Radars
During Thursday clouds will increase from south to north and rain will develop from south to north later in the day. Rain will arrive in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey by lunchtime and then spread northward to New York City, Long Island, Northern New Jersey and the Hudson Valley during the late afternoon and evening. Low pressure from the Ohio Valley will re develop off the Delaware coast and move slowly east. This probably means on and off rain overnight Thursday and for at least part of Friday.
Weather conditions should dry up enough to allow for some sunshine on Saturday. However we have to be careful here since there will be an onshore flow so how much drying remains to be seen. Sunday we cloud up again with rain developing during the day from south to north as another weather system moves out of the Ohio Valley and heads for the Delaware Coast. Rainfall amounts from the first system looks to be on the light side in northern areas with heavier amounts to the south.
GFS MODEL FORECAST RAINFALL THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING
The GFS model precip shows some 1 inch plus amounts with the first shot of rain in areas west and north of the coast with much less north and east from the first weather event.
Temperatures through all of this will be struggling. Tonight it will be in the mid 30s in cold spots and Frost Advisories are up for the northern areas of the Hudson Valley, the northwestern counties of New Jersey, and Eastern Long Island. Thursday’s highs will be in the upper 50s and low 60s. Once the rain starts it will drop into the 40s Thursday night and perhaps only make it back into the low and middle 50s on Friday.
