The warm front marking the leading edge of the steam bath heatwave is moving northeastward this afternoon. Lots of clouds have rolled on in as evidenced by the satellite loop. At the moment the first area of downpours are out to the west across North Central & Northeastern Pennsylvania as well as parts of upstate NY. To the south some lighter showers are indicated in Maryland and Virginia. The area of rain in Pennsylvania and NY State will continue to move northeastward and pass mainly to our north.

During tonight across Southeast & South Central Pennsylvania there is a slight risk that some severe thunderstorms could develop.

After this area goes by on Thursday there could be a few more scattered downpours or thunderstorms until the dry line (weak cold front) moves through late in the day Thursday. Humidity will be much higher on Thursday and temperatures will reach the 80s away from the ocean
Friday begins the long duration heatwave with highs reaching into the lower 90s in many (but not all) locations and then it will be low to mid 90s Saturday and Sunday. Other than a pop up isolated thunderstorm Friday and the weekend should be rain free.
HEATWAVE BEGINS FRIDAY
Monday will be a shade “less” hot as there will be more of a south wind that could hold temperatures down somewhat especially along the coast. 90 degree temperatures will continue Tuesday & Wednesday. There could be some scattered thunderstorms beginning on Monday and lasting into the 4th of July as a weak weather front begins to approach around the middle of next week. Some areas could see 6 consecutive days of 90 degrees plus while others might see 4 or 5 depending on clouds and wind.
