Damp Dreary Days Ahead
DAMP DREARY DAYS AHEAD
Now that the onshore flow has built in the low clouds have moved in from off the ocean. We can see those clouds on the satellite loop backing in from the northeast. We can also see clouds increasing from the south as well and the strong upper air storm dropping southeast from the Great Lakes. All of this sets the stage for on and off periods of rain for the next 3 or 4 days. We may not see improvement until later Sunday. When it is not a steady rain it will just be cloudy with some light rain or drizzle especially along the coast.
The radars are beginning to see rain developing across the Middle Atlantic States and moving northeast into Southeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey. More waves of rain will be coming in for tonight and Thursday though the bulk of the first round of rain will stay mainly west of the coast.
DAMP DREARY RADAR LOOPS
We have a strong onshore flow setting up with high pressure to the north. Low pressure is to the west and south with a warm front offshore. Hopefully the waves of rain will produce enough rain to dent the drought.
The GFS model today keeps us in the range of 1 to 4 inches of rain through the area spread out over the next 4 days. At least with the rain spread out over 4 days it might prevent any kind of flooding developing.
Tropical Storm Matthew has formed and is moving into the Eastern Caribbean with top winds of 60 mph. Check here for the latest on Tropical Storm Matthew.
