Cooler Air Begins to Slowly Arrive Maria Out to Sea
We are finally at the point where the ridge in the east is breaking down and the beginning of a cool down in stair step fashion that will last through the weekend. Maria is now back to a tropical storm and Hurricane Lee to the east and both will be heading out to sea. We will see sunshine today and a few passing clouds but highs will be mostly in the 70s to near 80 with a north wind and lower humidity. The cool off lasts into and through the weekend.

REGIONAL RADAR
Bands of rain from Tropical Storm Maria are visible on the regional and local radar view this morning. Otherwise it is nice and quiet from the radar perspective.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
Friday we see the next cold front approaching and behind that front is a second push of cool air that will be here for Saturday and Sunday. Friday will be partly sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s. Then we could see a few showers Friday night into early Saturday morning. Saturday will certainly be very much an autumn day with clouds and breaks of sun with highs just in the 60s. Sunday will be nice and cool with some sunshine and highs in the 60s to near 70.
NEW TROPICAL STORM OFF THE FLORIDA EAST COAST?
CLICK TO ANIMATE
We thought we would get a break from tropical storm development but some weather models are focusing on disturbed weather over Cuba & the Bahamas and several develop low pressure east of the Florida coast. Conditions aloft are actually favorable for development over the next few days and the National Hurricane Center has it at a 40% chance. Now if it does develop into something it is likely to move westward across Florida into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico but at the same time, upper air conditions next week may become less favorable. We will monitor this system which is likely to produce heavy rains from Cuba to the Bahamas to Florida.
