Colder Weather Some Rain Tonight Into Saturday
Colder Weather Some Rain Tonight Into Saturday
Snow Upstate NY & Northern New England
Colder weather is on the way for this weekend and for much of next week. A strong storm is going to develop just offshore and intensify as it moves into New England on Saturday. We will see the first snows of the season through many elevated areas north of I-90 and west of 87 in upstate NY as well as parts of Northern Vermont, Northern New Hampshire & Northwestern Maine. This storm is also going to produce 2 to 3 feet of snow across much of Southeastern Canada before it is all done.
As far as our weather goes it is a bit of a tougher call regarding rain since models seem to have the southern edge of the rain nearby on Saturday morning. Before we get there however we can see on the satellite loop as well as the radars below that much of the heavy rains will remain west and north of the area through much of the day Friday and then only begin shifting eastward late Friday afternoon and Friday night. Warm air briefly returns Friday as temperatures climb back up into the 70s before low pressure develops and consolidates just offshore Friday night.
With the strong upper air storm that is driving this intensifying as it lifts northeastward Saturday, a band of rain is likely to develop on the western edge. I’m looking for some steady rain late Friday night and Saturday morning before ending by afternoon. Strong northwest winds will develop as temperatures fall into the 50s and stay there all day Saturday. Winds will be 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts.
COLDER WEATHER SATURDAY AFTERNOON WIND FORECAST
Some improvement comes Sunday but it will still be breezy with some sunshine. Then Monday another cold front moves through with a few showers Monday morning followed by colder air for Monday night lasting into early Thursday. There could be the first freezes for much of the area beginning Monday night but I think Tuesday night and maybe even Wednesday night could provide a more widespread freeze reaching down into Southeastern Pennsylvania and Central New Jersey.
COLDER WEATHER WEDNESDAY MORNING LOWS FREEZE LIKELY IN MANY AREAS
As far as daytime highs go Saturday through Wednesday most areas will see temperatures not get out of the 50s and some areas could have a tough time getting out of the lower 50s for daytime highs.
