Cold Shot Friday Saturday Grows Even Colder
Widespread Freeze Friday Night Saturday Morning
As we look ahead to the cold blast that is coming for Friday & Saturday make no mistake this is going to be one strong shot of very cold air. An air mass like this in the depth of winter and we are talking temperatures below zero especially over any kind of snow cover. However it is just the first half of November and this is cold enough with temperatures going to run some 20 degrees or more below average.
COLD SHOT SATURDAY MORNING 7AM TEMPERATURES
Before we get to Friday & Saturday we have the next 3 days including today of course and while we are starting with some sunshine clouds will be increasing as a wave of low pressure moves eastward and heads for the Delaware coast tonight. We will be seeing rain which is now already showing up on the regional radar to the west move in later this afternoon and evening. Temperatures today will top in the upper 40s to around or just barely over 50. Once the rain moves in temperatures will fall into the upper 30s and lower 40s. It might be cold enough for the rain to mix with some sleet or wet snow in the higher elevations well north and west of the coast; probably along and north of I-84 would be the best bet from Northeastern Pennsylvania into the Catskills and the Hudson Valley.
SATELLITE LOOP
REGIONAL RADAR
As far as rain is concerned, the heaviest rain on the order of perhaps 3/4 inch to an inch will be for Central & Southern New Jersey & Southeastern Pennsylvania while amounts drop off considerably once you get north of NYC.
NAM MODEL RAINFALL FORECAST
Rain should be done by daybreak Wednesday with leftover clouds and highs in the 50s. We will see some sunshine on Thursday until a polar front moves through late in the day and the wind strengthens from the north. Highs Thursday in the 50s. Colder air will have temperatures on Friday in the 30s all day at best and then dropping to the teens and 20s Saturday morning. Saturday we will see lots of sun but highs will only be in the 30s to around or just barely over 40.
