Clouds Scattered Showers Give Way to Sunshine Questions Surround Weekend

It is hard to believe that after yesterday’s Arizona like conditions with humidity as low as 6% in some areas that we have some showers on the radar. In reality it isn’t too hard to believe since the 6% humidity is the anomaly and not the norm. An upper air disturbance is moving southeastward and passing through with clouds and a cluster of showers. There might even be a rumble or two of thunder in this but the air was so dry yesterday that it is hard to imagine this cluster producing much rain.

F5 WEATHER RADARS

It will move along and weaken and then clouds will give way to sunshine for the rest of the day. Highs will be in the upper 60s to some lower 70s. It will be a little cooler along south and east facing shorelines as sea breezes develop this afternoon. Going forward the weather becomes a little tougher to figure. High pressure will be building south from Eastern Canada. The offshore coastal storm moves far enough east to allow the high to build and more of an onshore flow to develop. This means cooler temperatures over the next few days.

Lows tonight will be in the mid to upper 40s. Thursday we should see sunshine with highs in the 60s in most places. Again south and east facing shorelines will be subject to sea breezes. The weather for Friday appears to be okay as a “skinny” high lies in between the old ocean storm to the east and the next weather system that is taking days to move a handful of miles from the Plains to the Great Lakes.

Since the overall trend is dry we will go for partly sunny skies on Friday with highs mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s. The weekend is iffy. We could hold on for Saturday with just lots of clouds and the outside chance for a passing shower. Highs Saturday will be again in the upper 50s to some lower 60s. Then the system to the west should finally get close enough to bring showers late Saturday night into midday Sunday.

Showers might linger around during the afternoon. Highs should reach into the 60s in most places on Sunday. Next week the issue is the new position of the block which moves northwestward into the Davis Strait between Greenland and Labrador. This makes the outlook more problematic and will probably mean clouds and the chance for showers the first half of next week though it doesn’t at all look as if any one day is a washout it this stage.
