Clouds Around Scattered Showers Thunderstorms Severe Weather Risk Monday
It is another warm humid day across the area and once again we have clouds around. Some sun has broken out in Southern New Jersey and we will describe today as a cloudy to occasionally partly sunny type of day. Where the sun takes hold temperatures will reach the 80s and where it doesn’t it will stay in the 70s. There is a warm front setting up to our south that will be pushing northward later today into tonight.
That is the reason why we are dealing with clouds today. As far as severe weather risk is concerned, that will be confined from Pennsylvania west and south for late today and this evening.
SATELLITE
Scattered showers ar showing up on the radars this morning and they are moving northeastward. Everywhere else scattered showers and general thunderstorms are possible today into tonight but it doesn’t rain all day.
WEATHER RADAR
The warm front should get to our north tonight and for Monday and then a wave develops pushing the front back southeastward Monday afternoon. This means a very warm and humid day with temperatures in the 80s except lower 90s in areas from Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey southward. Showers and thunderstorms are possible late in the day and the Storm Prediction Center has us in a marginal risk for severe weather.
Tuesday through Friday it seems the best approach is to describe conditions as very warm to hot and humid each day with the chance for a shower or thunderstorm each afternoon and evening. Some days the threat level will be higher than others. Tuesday for examples has a frontal boundary lying right across NYC so northeast and east on Long Island and Southern New England temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80 while south and west from Philadelphia, temperatures will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s.
Wednesday the warm front pushes back northward so we will see highs in the mid 80s to near 90. Thursday and looks to be hot with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Again watch for the chance for scattered thunderstorms. A cold front will make an attempt to approach and pass next Saturday with hot temperatures ahead of it and a higher chance for showers and thunderstorms. The front will take its time and we could see a repeat performance Sunday. Then that hopefully be followed by a short break in the humidity early next week.
