Nice Most of Saturday Cold Sunday

The atmosphere is in busy mode at the moment with 5 distinct weather systems moving along in the flow. Yesterday’s system is now in Eastern Canada and as a result we have some nice weather for the rest of today into tonight. Then system number two which is a rather vigorous short wave trough follows system number 1 and moves up the coast later tonight and Friday bringing a 6 hour shot of rain here on Friday. The fact that we have so many shortwaves running around keeps any of these systems from getting to strong. Rain from system number 2 for Friday should be around the 1/2 inch mark plus or minus in a few places. This is not a big deal.

RAINFALL FORECAST FOR FRIDAY

Now on to Saturday where system number 5 swings eastward, digs, and intensifies. The daytime Saturday will see a mix of sun and clouds but late in the day and into the evening skies will darken and look for a few showers or downpours as a cold front goes by.

GFS UPPER AIR FORECAST SUNDAY APRIL 29, 2018

Busy Upper Air Pattern Next Several Days Rain Friday Cold Sunday

A deep trough moves toward the coast on Sunday and this is going to create a cold unstable environment over the Northeast & Middle Atlantic States. Sunday will see some early sun before lots of clouds develop and we can’t rule out some passing showers. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some low top thunderstorms with some hail develop in this. Upstate NY may actually see some snow shower with temperatures not out of the 50s. This deep trough also brings up a strong ridge to the west in the Plains where warm air will be building. Once this system moves out to the east on Monday, warm air will move east. We should recover on Monday with sunshine and highs in the 60s to near 70. Tuesday we will be in the 70s to near 80. Wednesday Thursday and probably Friday we will be in the 80s.

WEDNESDAY MAY 2ND FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES

We will probably see the warm weather come to an end late next week but the pattern doesn’t look especially cool in the longer range nor does it look all that wet at the moment. Perhaps we will transition over to some seasonal conditions in the long range.
